Quinn Pestle receives BSA National Medal for Outdoor Achievement

Congratulations to Rock Bridge senior and CACC student, Quinn Pestle for being recognized as the first Boy Scout in the state of Missouri to receive the National Medal for Outdoor Achievement in a special presentation by the Missouri House of  Representatives, in Jefferson City, on January 23, 2013. Representative Stephen Webber presented Quinn with a formal resolution for this achievement. In order to receive this honor, Quinn completed requirements to earn National Outdoor badges in the five areas of emphasis: camping, aquatics, hiking, riding, and adventure, as well as the additional requirements to earn the national medal by planning and leading a trek, completing wilderness first aid, and becoming a Leave No Trace trainer. For Quinn, this included 125 nights camping, 400 miles biking, 100 hours on the water, and planning and leading his troop on a campout and rock climbing activity.

Besides being an Eagle Scout in Troop 4, Quinn was also a part of the 2012  Columbia FFA National Champion Forestry team.

Pestle is currently an Ag Welding, CAD 1 and Civil Engineering 2 student. Quinn says that his classes at CACC have helped him develop responsibility and leadership qualities. Enjoyment of civil engineering and the architectural and mechanical components of CAD are influencing his decision to continue his studies of pre-engineering in college. On recommendation from his Civil Engineering instructor Brad Mann, Pestle is currently an engineering intern with the City of Columbia where he continues to utilize the skills he has acquired in class. Quinn credits his teachers at CACC as “being the best teachers he had in High School”.

Quinn was featured in  the Boy Scout magazine, The Pilot.
