The annual FFA
Fruit Sale fundraiser begins today. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s more than
fruit. Plenty of savory comfort food is also available: popcorn, beef jerky, spiral
sliced ham, smoked turkey, and summer sausage. Many of the products showcase
Missouri producers, including Quail Pointe popcorn, which is made right here in
Columbia as well as Jennings summer sausage made in New Franklin.
Proceeds from
the sales go to fund the students involvement in various FFA events, including a trip to Grant’s Farm,
a ski trip to Weston, Missouri and a trip to the FFA National Convention in
Indianapolis, Indiana, in October where Columbia will be represented by five
Career Development teams competing at the national level.
New items this
year include a 5 lb. box of Clementines and the spiral sliced half ham. The
Clementines, smooth, glossy, and easy to peel, are sweeter and have less
tartness than typical tangerines. Meat
items will be delivered on Nov 14, in time for Thanksgiving, and the fruit
items will be delivered on December 4. Show your support by checking out the
complete list of items available here. Orders are due by October
5, 2012.
