CACC Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA) members traveled to Independence, for the State HOSA Fall Conference at which delegates heard speakers, attended breakout sessions, and elected officers. Jenny Zulovich, a junior from Rock Bridge, was elected as the Missouri HOSA President, and will serve Spring 2013 through Spring 2014. The student state board works with the state coordinator to organize the fall and spring leadership conferences.
Zulovich also serves as president of her local HOSA chapter. A current 21st Century Life Science MPA student of Christine Roberson, Zulovich says after taking Lab Exploration as a sophomore, she was hooked. She plans on taking Lab Foundations MI next year with the hope of studying Biomedical Engineering in college. This summer, she spent a week at Purdue University at a Woman in Engineering camp.
CTSO’s like HOSA provide members the opportunity to compete at state and national level events in knowledge-based or practical tests. Last spring, Jenny competed in the knowledge-based Medical Math test at the national level.
As a national organization, HOSA promotes student preparation for a variety of careers within the health sciences field. Being involved in HOSA encourages students to take an active part in building a more healthy community through education, skill-building contests, service projects, and raising awareness of medical issues.
