The Columbia Old Wheels Car Club has awarded two Auto Tech students from Columbia Area Career Center each a $1,000 scholarship. Congratulations to Scotty Johnson, Hallsville senior and Alex Fredette, Hickman senior for being the 2014 recipients. This scholarship is given in memory of the late Mel Koonse, a former member of the Old Wheels Car Club, and an avid collector and restorer of antique and classic cars. The scholarship is given to Boone County High School seniors continuing their education in an automotive related field of study. Scotty will attend Linn State Technical College to study Light Duty Diesel and General Automotive and Alex will attend University of Missouri to study engineering.
