CACC Student awarded Missouri S & T Chancellors Scholarship

Congratulations to Justin Crum, Hallsville senior, for receiving the prestigious Missouri S&T Chancellor’s Scholarship. Justin was one of 15 students awarded the $12,000 per year scholarship, renewable with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must meet ACT and GPA criteria, write an essay, and provide a letter of recommendation. From there one hundred students were invited to interview. Justin was informed he was a recipient with a personal phone call from the chancellor. He was at work at HyVee at the time, so she had to leave a message. A formal letter arrived a few days later.

Missouri S & T was Justin’s first choice for college. There he plans to study Aerospace Engineering. His CAD 1 class is preparing him well; he just finished modeling a P-38 aircraft. CAD instructor Mr. Allee’s class includes several engaging projects at a fast pace, introducing the students to an array of computer assisted design topics and software during first semester:  Students learn 3-D animation, mechanical modeling design, and architectural design. In the spring semester each student selects a primary area of interest.  This semester, Justin will focus on mechanical modeling design, building his portfolio and preparing for competition in SkillsUSA.
