The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education sponsors the Breaking Traditions award each year recognizing those students studying in a non-traditional career path. CACC Certified Welding student, Sadiya Braid was awarded the Spirit Award, which is presented to an individual who exemplifies the unbreakable spirit of Daphna Jones, someome who has overcome undue hardships, braved harsh obstacles, stood courageously against troubles, and has had the tenacity to surpass all the odds. Braid was nominated by her instructor, Bill Irvin.
